OUR RESTAURANT
Our Restaurant Taibon 1885 is located in San Vigilio di Marebbe. Outside the busy area and close to the woods of our Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park which is part of the Dolomites - UNESCO natural heritage. In a quiet area, where you can breathe the fresh mountain air and hear the birds chirping.
The restaurant is integrated into the Hotel Monte Paraccia however it has its own entrance and its own terrace where you can have aperitifs, watching the sunset.
To create a comfortable but particular atmosphere, we have modernized our Ladin style. Indeed, in the center of the restaurant you will find the old table from 1885 which recalls the name of the restaurant.
The restaurant was designed by our local craftsman Roland de Jochele who has created a truly relaxing environment.
All furniture is custom made in European walnut. The floor is in Trentino porphyry from Albiano. The large window gives a spectacular view of our Val di Marebbe.
The restaurant is big enough for 60 people. We are therefore also happy to host small events.
OUR HISTORY
Once upon a time...
A small wooden house surrounded by woods and meadows. The great-grandparents of Karin, now the owner of the hotel, bought it in 1885. They were farmers like most of the inhabitants of San Vigilio and used the house as a farm. Life in the mountains wasn't easy, but with a few cows, goats and pigs, life was quite good.
The grandparents enlarged the farm and added some rooms for the family members. After the First World War, the rooms began to be rented out to the first tourists, who spent the summer months on the Paraccia farm.
Even then the beauty of the Dolomites was noticed – today a UNESCO natural heritage site. Not only Italians, but also Germans and even Americans came to San Vigilio on holiday to climb the mountains and admire these unique landscapes.
In 1951 the Pensione Paraccia was inaugurated, with a bar and a tavern, open to both guests of the house and the inhabitants of the village. It was a gathering place and its lounge bar still welcomes hotel guests for an aperitif or a good glass of wine, in front of the fireplace in winter or in the cool garden in summer.
Giorgio and Marianne, Karin's parents, ran the guesthouse with such passion that the number of regular guests grew from year to year. With the guests, the pension also expanded and became the Hotel Monte Paraccia. In addition, the Garni Pe de Munt and the Restaurant Taibon 1885 were added. With the restaurant we are dedicated to the passion for good cuisine. The venue is used by both hotel guests and restaurant guests.
Today Karin Taibon is the owner of the "small farm". She and her family are the 4th generation to live in the Paraccia house.
